Friends may be invited over when you earn enough points.
Parties may be thrown, supervised, of course, for friends in this neighborhood or your family when permitted by the case worker and you have earned the points. Your old friends will not be included in our social life here.
In order to provide you with the foods you like, menus, grocery lists and food ideas must be submitted in writing on the grocery list on the refrigerator
Party foods must be listed in detail in order for you to have the items you want at your parties.
I can’t read minds. I can’t guess at your wants and needs.
This is a social skill: ask for what you want and need.
We will do our best to supply it for you as you earn priveleges and points toward those activities..
You will want to be earning points for privileges
To do this you will want to have your room clean every day for inspection.
Breaking these rules will lead to not earning points and consequences for the defiant behavior.
A clean room includes:
Bed made.
Fitted sheet pulled tightly into place.
A flat matching sheet pulled over the fitted sheet,
tucked tightly at the bottom and along one side.
A blanket or two depending on the weather stretched flat, tucked at bottom and along one side
A bedspread to keep dust and things from dirtying the under linins.
A pillow, in a pillow case on top or covered by the bedspread.
Floor Swept, including closet space and under bed.

All clothes put away.
There are only three places for clothes:
Closet, hanging on hangers
Drawers, clean and folded
Hamper sorted into two hampers, dark and white, ready to be washed on your assigned day. See Laundry instructions.
Any other clothes will be deemed:
too small:
too large
not appropriate
and you will be given a chance to send them home within the first week with your case worker.
Other wise they will be donated to Savers.
You may keep the coupon from Savers for a 3% discount on your next purchase.
Once a week the fan blades and window blinds must be dusted, more often if needed.
Points will be awarded for privileges such as television time, outings, visits and visitors.

Weekly schedule.
Your weekly schedule is on the non internet computer.
You will prepare the schedule in detail by Sunday night,
under supervision, print 3 copies and post it on the broom closet at the foot of the stairs.
One copy will be sent to 4 The Youth and you will keep an additional copy in your school notebook.
All activities on the schedule must be initialed by
4The Youth staff or proctor parents by Monday of the week scheduling is for.

The first two weeks here are called. HOUSE ARREST.

That simply means, no privileges.
You will be learning how to be a part of this family.
You will be learning our rules and how best to obey them.
There is no negotiation on rules during the first two weeks.
You probably think you know more than we do
And you think you have better ways to do things,
but we have had many proctor sons
and have learned the best way to do things,.
Please don’t try to manipulate the rules.
They are there for a good reason.
Later, we can talk about individual privileges and rules, when you demonstrate the ability to keep the rules the way they are.

We are neither mean nor friendly.
We are your proctor parents.
Rule makers and keepers.
We are your boundaries.
Staying within the boundaries is the safest thing for you.
Your previous behaviors have demonstrated that
you don’t know how to do that yet.
We are here to teach you to
obey and keep within the boundaries.

Bathroom privileges.
You have a bathroom upstairs near you bedroom.
You may use it and only that bathroom
whenever you need to.
You don’t have to ask.
You have if for five minutes at time.
It is not a place to hide out or mess around.
It is for showering, 3 minute showers,
and using the toilet with the door closed.
Any other time spent in the bathroom,
the door must be open.
Please turn off the light and water
when you are not using them.

Keeping the Bathroom clean will earn your points
To keep the Bathroom clean here is what you do:
Wash your hands with soap several times a day,
this helps keep everyone, including you, healthy.

Brush your teeth at least morning and night. Preferably after every time you eat.
Clean out the sink after washing your hands or brushing your teeth.

Clean the sink
after every use.
Use the sink cleanser and the mesh sponge provided.
Dry the sink and counter top area with a dry towel.
Deposit the towel in the white towel hamper in the bathroom.
Sweep the floor and shake the rugs outside.
Use the broom, mop and dust pan in the closet.
Damp mop the entire floor daily, especially around the toilet bowel.

Flush and Clean the Toilet after Every Use.
Be sure to sanitize the sides of the toilet bowel inside and outside, because that’s where your urine runs down.
Use toilet sanitizer, pine-sol, or chlorine bleach to sanitize (supervision required).
You can use the toilet brush or a rag for doing this. Deposit the rag in the towel hamper to be washed.
Wipe the rim of the toilet, under the ring, the top of the ring, the under part of the “lid” and the top of the lid.
Wipe and sanitize the space between the lid and the tank.
Wipe off the top, front and sides of the water tank.
Replace toilet tissue if needed.
Wash your hands after doing this.

Hang fresh hand towels Daily

Hang 2 fresh towels on the rod with a fresh dry wash cloth on top at a diagonal.
Put damp used ones in the White Towel bin in the bathroom.

Shower Daily
When you shower, use one of your towels and wash cloths.

Scrub your body all over in every crevice with a wash cloth full of soap, then rinse thoroughly.
Use the sprayer hose to reach hard to get areas.
Use the towel to blot dry.
It will still be clean, so hang it up to dry to reuse next shower.
You have two towels to use for the week.
We run out of hot water very quickly.
If you shower more than three minutes it leaves no hot water for other purposes.
You can scrub and rinse and wash your hair easily in three minutes. Set the timer.
See laundry instructions for washing towels.

LAUNDRY INSTRUCTIONS
On your assigned laundry day,
put all towels and washcloths from the white bin
into the washer together,
add one scoop of detergent, to the wash cycle,
and ½ cup of vinegar to the rinse cycle.
The vinegar will break up old detergent that hides in the fibers of the towels, breaking them down and causing thin spots.
It also helps make them soft and fluffy and sanitizes them.
Dry on “Cottons Reg. Heat”.
At the red mark.
I will supervise you with this the first few weeks.
Fold and return to their place in your room or on the bathroom closet shelf.

The hall way and stairs
The hall way and stairs are for everyone in the house. Please keep the area clean
. Do not leave your personal belongings in that area (or any area except your bedroom in their place.)

Turn the Hall lights off when you are not using the hall way.
Keep your bedroom door closed
when you are not in your room.
When you are in your room this first two weeks, the door must remain open unless you are changing your clothes.
Come down stairs only when you are fully dressed.
No PJ’s down stairs.
I will walk you to the bus stop the first two weeks.
We will establish a morning time schedule according to the bus schedule.

Bedtime
For the first two weeks your bedtime is 9:00 p.m. Lights out by 9:30 p.m 10:00 P.M on Friday and Saturday nights
